This week in La-La Land we are using more than 3 dies on our projects. This is a pretty easy thing to do with so many fabulous dies in the La-La Land Crafts range, the hard part is to know when to stop LOL.

Remembering Manchester

My thoughts have been with Manchester since the recent tragedy and I was honoured to be able to colour up this beautiful image in memory of the victims, their families and the responders. Sadly since this tragedy happened, Egypt has also seen senseless cruelty and loss of lives. When will this madness stop?? I just wish everyone would realise we CAN live together in peace, no matter what our differences.

PEACE - such a small word, only five letters long, hopefully one day.......

I managed to colour up another image I've had for a little while, it's ben fun going through my digi files and seeing what's hiding in them. Of course there are many I will neer get a chance to colour but that doesn't mean I can't keep collecting right ;)

This is Fifi Bows from Bloobel Stamps. I think this was designed as a Christmas image but she's easy to adapt to any occasion and she's a total cutie.

Add an Animal in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are adding animals to our creations. There are some fun ways to do this with either a choice of some cute images {frenchies, bears, cats, dinosaurs, cows etc} or some fabulous dies. I chose an image I haven't had a chance to colour up yet - I love his springy heart headband LOL.

A Rocking Card with Teddy Bo

I managed to get this cute Teddy Bo onto a card while my internet, phone and TV were down - it's amazing how much time is sucked up a day on those devices!!!!

Anyway - back to my card....This cutie is in the Teddy Bo May 2017 membership.I created a rocking card for him and chose a fun MFT sentiment {from the Happy Hedgehog set} which seemed to fit this little guy with his sideways lean.

Aurora Wings Challenge #50

We have a really fun challenge for you this time because it's open to so much interpretation and there are so many gorgeous Aurora Wings images you could choose to work with.

The challenge is......

Image may contain: flower and text

Today I mixed 3 different images, Windows To Your Soul - Dark VersionHibiscus and Easter Bunny. I cropped the girl to fit behind my die cut window and flipped the hibiscus flowers and printed them both ways to give a mirrored image and a fuller garden. Tuck in a couple of cheeky bunnies and die cut vines there's all sorts of fun happening in this garden.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the AMAZING DT inspiration on our BLOGWe also have a very active Facebook Fan Group with additional contests, challenges and inspiration.  We hope to see you there.

This month's challenge was...
1. Must use the image and sentiment provided
2. Include 2 designer papers
3. Include Flowers in your projects

My card shape was cut using my Cameo, I have done this with every SBS challenge card to date - I think I'm going to make it a mini challenge to myself to continue :) I went with the bold colours and contrasts I seem to favour too. Mother's Day or Thank You in La-La Land

I decided to go with a simple, no colouring design for today's theme as I have someone in mind for this card and this will suit her perfectly. La-La Land Crafts have such a fabulous array of dies to choose from so it's easy to create something fun.

Dr.Teddy Bo Who

So OK - I confess - I'm not a Dr.Who fan but I just LOVED this gorgeous image from Teddy Bo and I have a few friends who may just like him when their birthday comes around. He's one of the May graphics and I couldn't help but name him
Dr.Teddy Bo Who.

I printed him a little larger so that the Tardis wouldn't get lost and Googled to get ideas for the colouring of his scarf . Who knew Dr.Who had had so many versions? I tried to stay as close to true as possible to one of them LOL!!! I also Googled iconic Dr.Who phrases and paired "Timey-Wimey" with a little birthday wish. I hope you like him.

A Tutorial for La-La Land

Today I have a fun little tutorial I've done for La-La Land. It's a background technique for those of you who are Copic users. This technique works with a variety of different colour blends so don't feel you have to use the ones I'm using here - experiment - have fun - that's what life should be about.

You'll need:
Copics for the background
 I used E99, E97, BG32 {there are some other examples at the end of this post :) }
Copic Colourless Blender

Now let's get started...

Print off your image and use the die you're going to cut her out with to trace a pencil line around. This ensures that you don't spend time colouring areas that will be discarded later.

Use your selected copics - I like to use no more than 3 - to create a camouflage style of pattern on the background.

Start dropping or dabbing colourless blender over the camo background - I use a cotton swab soaked in the blender solution and dabbed with varying degrees of pressure to give different sized areas.

Note - Make sure that you don't saturate any one area as you'll just bleed all the colour together and lose the fun bubble texture. Let each area dry and go back later.

Keep going until you're happy with the look. Some colour will bleed into the image but we'll deal with that in the next step. This is why we do the background first - we don't want the image to start "bubbling" along with the background.

Use your colourless blender to push any colour back out of the image and into the background. You will also be colouring the image in so will cover any persistant shadows. Also "ground" the image if you like. .

Colour in the image and cut out using your selected die.

Note - I have made sure the top of her head isn't cut off and I use a bit of washi tape to hold the die in place while cutting.

I started putting my card together and realised I needed a dark trim around my image to give it some definition. I don't have a die that works with this oval to give it a border so here's a little trick for you....

...I die cut the oval in dark brown and split it down the middle before gluing it the back of the image. Make sure you hide the cut points behind the image. This gives a nice matching trim even if it's not all the way around.

Here are some other cards I've done using this technique...

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have fun getting inky with your own version.
